Finance Assistant

Job description

Insanity is looking for a full time individual to join its centralised Finance and Business Affairs team. The successful candidate will support Insanity’s in-house accountancy team, together with liaising with Insanity’s retained external accountants. 


The role is to support the company’s continued expansion. Essential tasks include being the main contact for invoicing and credit control together with undertaking administration and filing for the department. The Finance Assistant must be capable of stepping in to carry out essential functions in the event of colleagues’ absence and willing to support wider company operations where needed, for example in supporting with meetings and other operational arrangements. There is also scope for project management responsibilities such as implementing new systems etc.


It will require the successful applicant to develop systems and practices that support the existing team and improve efficiency. High levels of self-organisation are a must, together with the keenest attention to detail.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Generating and issuing invoices using Wrike project management software, Xero and Arrange It software programmes
  • Effectively managing credit control
  • Reconciling payments on our accounting software Xero, with an understanding of how this effects the book keeping
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in producing the Quarterly VAT Return
  • Managing petty cash
  • Arranging client payments and sending remittances
  • Assisting the Finance Manager and Directors with ad-hoc tasks
  • General administration for the Finance team
  • Answering and redirecting incoming telephone calls
  • Carrying out due diligence on business transactions
  • Contributing to ensuring that business risk is managed appropriately
  • Encouraging professionalism and probity within the business
  • Ability to deputize for the Finance Manager during periods of leave



  • 2-3 years’ experience of working in a finance role
  • Studying towards AAT qualification or equivalent
  • An interest in the media industries
  • Excellent negotiation / mediation skills
  • High levels of assertiveness, confidence and influencing skills
  • Ability to think under pressure, remain calm in situations of contention, project a pro-social & professional image at all times and lead by example
  • Outgoing, friendly with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Great time management skills


To have some of the following:

  • Experience of working within the entertainment industries
  • Knowledge and / or experience of:
    • Book keeping
    • Credit control
    • Creating Invoices
    • Using Xero or other bookkeeping systems
    • Administration and filing
    • Developing systems that increase productivity and efficiency
    • Explaining accounting principles to non-finance members of staff

Working conditions

The role is usually carried out during normal business hours from the company’s head office situated within Sony Music Entertainment’s offices close to High Street Kensington. On occasion, the job may require evening or weekend work, remote working or work related travel.

The typical working day will be eight hours with an hour for lunch. Start time allows for flexibility within core business hours.

The job may involve working with challenging stakeholders or clients, from time to time.
